Italy plans to open a new visa office in Morocco in February 2024. This will make it easier for Moroccan citizens to apply for visas to visit Italy.
The visa office will be managed by VFS Global, a company that provides visa services for many countries.
The Italian embassy in Morocco will continue to provide consular services, such as information on the Italian economy, education, culture, sports, and citizenship requirements in Italy.
Moroccan interest in visiting Italy and other Schengen Zone countries has been increasing in recent years. In 2022, Moroccan citizens submitted over 423,000 Schengen visa applications, but 30% of these applications were rejected.
The new visa office in Morocco is expected to reduce the visa rejection rate by making it easier for Moroccan citizens to apply for visas and by providing them with more information about the visa process.
