Amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, the U.S. started a program that lets Israelis visit for up to 90 days without a visa. It was announced on September 27, putting Israel in a group of about 40 countries whose citizens can do this. Initially, Israelis were to start traveling without visas on November 30, but it’s already in effect. To use it, Israelis must register with the Electronic System for Travel Authorization, which checks if they’re eligible for visa-free travel. This might take up to 72 hours. They also need a biometric passport. If they don’t have one, they’ll still need a U.S. visa.

There are certain requirements for countries to join this program, and Israel met two of them over the past two years. The third is about treating all U.S. citizens, including Palestinian Americans, fairly when traveling to or through Israel. There have been concerns about whether Palestinian Americans still face discrimination when traveling to Israel, despite efforts to address this issue.
