Foreigners living in Ireland are encountering problems when trying to book Schengen visa appointments directly, forcing many to seek assistance from visa brokers. Despite their efforts to secure appointments early, applicants are struggling to find available slots, while brokers consistently have appointments ready for sale, putting pressure on individuals to use this alternative.
EU authorities, including the French Embassy in Dublin, have expressed concerns about unauthorized individuals exploiting the visa appointment booking system. An investigation by RTE’s Prime Time program revealed that brokers use automated systems to obtain appointments and then resell them at prices ranging from €40 to over €100 per slot.
The French Embassy acknowledged that the current measures in place have not effectively addressed this issue. They are now working closely with Irish authorities to improve software and online services security to combat these activities.
