IRCC processing time changes for study permit, visitor visa, super visa, work permit, IEC, and SAWP.
- Study permit
The processing time for study permit applications has increased from 6 weeks to 12 weeks. This is due to an increase in the number of applications, as well as a backlog of applications that were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Visitor visa
The processing time for visitor visa applications has increased from 12 weeks to 16 weeks. This is due to the same factors that have affected study permit processing times.
- Super visa
The processing time for super visa applications has increased from 24 weeks to 32 weeks. The super visa is a special type of visitor visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to stay in Canada for up to two years at a time. The processing time for IEC applications has increased from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. IEC is a program that allows young people from participating countries to work and travel in Canada. The increase in processing time is due to an increase in the number of applications.
- SAWP (Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program)
The processing time for SAWP applications has increased from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. SAWP is a program that allows Canadian farmers to hire temporary agricultural workers from Mexico and the Caribbean. The increase in processing time is due to an increase in the number of applications.
