As of July 19, 2023, we have the latest official processing times from the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), along with a comparison to the previous week’s processing times. Please read the following information carefully to fully understand the implications of these processing timeframes.

At INC – Immigration News Canada, we have been diligently tracking these processing times for over a year and providing weekly updates for the benefit of our readers. The IRCC officially updates these processing times once a week.

The IRCC made significant improvements to its processing tool in early 2022 to provide more realistic information on normal processing durations, rather than just displaying service standards. Previously, only IRCC service standards were shown, which represented the agency’s goal of expediting application processing. These service standards are rarely changed.

Currently, most citizenship and permanent residency services offer processing timelines for 80% of applications. These timelines are updated weekly based on statistical data from the past six months. This approach allows for more accurate information, taking into account processing volumes and any changes in IRCC’s capacity to handle applications.

For temporary residence applications, processing timeframes are also updated every week, using data from the previous 8 or 16 weeks.

It is essential to note that these processing timetables are intended to provide potential immigrants and visa applicants in Canada with an idea of how long it may take to process their applications. However, it does not guarantee that your application will be processed in the same duration.

Since the processing times are based on the experiences of 80% of applicants, the actual processing time for your application may be longer or shorter than the stated average.

For more specific information, you can check the processing times for the following types of applications:
