Iran and Saudi Arabia are considering canceling visas for each other’s citizens in an effort to improve relations. This comes after a year of warming ties between the two countries.

The announcement was made by Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani. He said that Iran is actively considering visa cancellations with several countries, including Saudi Arabia.

The two countries have held meetings to discuss the economic, political, security, and cultural implications of canceling visas. A formal report on the matter is currently being prepared.

Iran has also said that it is committed to expanding transportation routes and networks in the region.

The move comes as Saudi Arabia is gradually inching towards normalizing relations with Israel, under the sponsorship of the United States. Iran has criticized any regional attempts at normalizing relations with Israel.
