The planned increase in the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) by the government, originally set for 16 January 2024, has been delayed and is now expected to take effect no earlier than 31 January 2024. This delay is due to a legal requirement that the increase can only be implemented 21 days after becoming law.

On 10th January 2024, the House of Commons will discuss the proposed IHS rise. Consequently, the earliest possible date for the new fees to be enforced is 31 January 2024. This extension in the timeline provides individuals with additional time to submit their visa applications before the higher fees come into effect.
