Following CID raids on 17 visa firms in districts like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Gandhinagar, six firms are now under investigation. The CID is checking for potential fraud in documents and is looking into three more agencies. This is part of an ongoing probe into suspected illegal immigration in the state.
The investigation is notable as it aligns with another probe into a Legend Airlines plane halted in France on December 22 over suspected human trafficking. Many passengers on the plane were from Gujarat. CID Crime SP Sanjay Kharat clarified that, as of now, no connection has been found between the alleged illegal immigration purpose of the flight passengers and the 17 visa consultancies under investigation.
