Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is considering increasing the minimum investment for foreigners seeking a Golden Visa, focusing on regions with high rental demand. The aim is to address housing market challenges.

“We are thinking about raising the investment threshold, especially in areas with a lot of demand for rentals,” Mitsotakis told lawmakers in Athens.

Greece has already doubled the investment requirement for a Greek visa through property investment in popular destinations like Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, and Santorini. Currently, investors need to spend โ‚ฌ500,000 in these locations for the ‘Golden Visa’ program, while the threshold for the rest of the country remains at โ‚ฌ250,000.
