Germany is making it simpler for skilled workers from foreign countries to come to the country. They’re changing their immigration rules due to a lack of workers. The changes will happen in stages, with some starting this month and more in 2024.

The German government wants to reduce the rules that skilled workers with qualifications and university degrees from non-EU countries have to follow. In the first stage starting on November 18, people from non-EU countries with job skills or a university degree can work in Germany without the old strict requirements.

They’re also lowering the minimum salary needed for the EU Blue Card, which is for highly skilled workers from outside the EU. These changes should make Germany more appealing to skilled workers. More changes are planned for the coming years, including reducing obstacles for skilled workers with experience in their jobs. This is part of Germany’s effort to attract more skilled workers to help fill job openings.
