A man from Yamunanagar, India, was defrauded of seven lakh rupees (approximately $9,000 USD) by an individual who promised to send him to Canada.

The victim, Sachin, was persuaded to pay the accused an advance of seven lakh rupees in April 2023. A few days later, the accused collected an additional one lakh rupee and Sachin’s passport.

On June 8, 2023, Sachin was instructed to travel to Delhi Airport for his supposed flight to Canada. However, upon reaching the airport, immigration officials discovered that Sachin’s visa was fake.

As a result of the fake visa, Sachin was detained by police for five days, including one day in jail. After securing bail, Sachin contacted the accused, who assured him of arranging a genuine visa.

However, the accused disappeared shortly thereafter, and Sachin has been unable to recover his money or obtain a valid visa for Canada. The Ladwa police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
