France is simplifying travel by introducing digital Schengen Visas before other EU countries. This move is part of a plan to fully digitize visa processes by 2026.

It coincides with France hosting the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris from July 26 to August 11 and August 28 to September 8.

To handle the expected visitors during the events, France plans to issue about 70,000 digital visas, but not everyone can get one due to limited availability.

This new approach not only makes the visa process smoother but also shows that France is embracing the digital age.

For non-EU citizens, eligibility for the French Digital Schengen visa is split into two categories:

  1. Members of the Olympic and Paralympic Family, like members of the International Olympic Committee, athletes, coaches, and accredited journalists.
  2. Other official guests invited by the Olympic or Paralympic Committee (OCOG).
