The French Ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Lecourtier, announced the removal of visa restrictions for Moroccans. In an interview with 2M, he highlighted the streamlined process, allowing Moroccans to obtain French visas without additional hurdles.
France’s decision follows dissatisfaction with unjust rejections in 2021 due to concerns about undocumented immigrants. Despite ongoing complaints, France maintained strict limits on granted visas, damaging its image.
With the restrictions lifted, Lecourtier expects an 80% increase in visas for Moroccans by year-end. In 2022, Moroccans submitted 423,201 Schengen visa applications, spending €3.8 million. However, only half received positive responses, with France and Spain rejecting the highest numbers, accounting for 85% of total rejections.
