To extend your work permit, you must apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) at least 30 days before your current work permit expires. You can apply online or by mail.
When you apply to extend your work permit, you will need to provide the following documents:
- Your current work permit
- A letter from your employer stating that you are still employed and that they require your continued services
- Proof of your continued eligibility to work in Canada, such as a valid study permit or a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
- Any other documents that IRCC may require
If your application is approved, you will be issued a new work permit that will extend your stay in Canada.
To change the conditions of your work permit, you must also apply to IRCC at least 30 days before your current work permit expires. You can apply online or by mail.
