Finland and Sweden have decided to let VFS Global, a private company that specializes in visa processing, handle Schengen visa applications in Cyprus. This means that if you want to apply for a Schengen visa to visit Finland or Sweden from Cyprus, you’ll need to visit a VFS Global office instead of going to the Finnish or Swedish embassy.
The new Visa Application Center is set to open in Nicosia in November 2023. To apply, you’ll need to schedule an appointment in advance and submit your application in person. The processing time for Schengen visa applications is 15 calendar days.
If you’re a citizen of Cyprus, you don’t need a visa to travel to Finland or Sweden since both countries are part of the European Union. However, if you’re living in Cyprus and you’re not a citizen of an EU country, you may need to apply for a visa.
The Cypriot government is pleased with this new Visa Application Center, as it’s expected to make the process of applying for Schengen visas to Finland and Sweden more convenient. Additionally, the government is actively working to improve air connectivity between Cyprus, Finland, and Sweden.
