In a shift from the last five years, Europe is leading the Henley Passport Index for 2024. Four European countriesโ€”France, Germany, Italy, and Spainโ€”now share the top spot with Singapore and Japan. Citizens of these European nations can visit 194 destinations without a visa, up by three from the previous year.

South Korea, Sweden, and Finland jointly hold the second position with access to 193 locations, while Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands share the third spot, offering travel to 192 places.

The United Kingdom shares the fourth position (191 destinations), and the United States retains joint seventh place (188 destinations). Over the last decade, the United Arab Emirates rose to 11th place, providing visa-free access to 183 destinations. China, now at 62nd place, has doubled its visa-free destinations to 85 compared to ten years ago.

Dr. Christian Kaelin, Chairman of Henley & Partners, highlighted the growing gap in travel freedom between the top and bottom of the list. The average number of visa-free destinations has almost doubled from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024.
