The European Union is looking into adjusting Schengen visa fees, according to a new proposal by the EU Commission. The draft suggests raising the Schengen visa application fee from €80 to €90 for adults and from €40 to €45 for children.

Additionally, the proposal recommends an increase in the Schengen visa fee for countries that do not cooperate in readmitting their nationals without proper documentation in the EU. The suggested fees for these countries would go up from €120 to €135 and from €160 to €180.

The EU also suggests allowing external Schengen visa service providers to charge a higher fee in line with the revision. The draft notes that these service providers, collecting visa applications for member states, may now charge up to half of the standard visa fee, meaning an increase from €40 to €45 for their services.

As for Schengen visa extensions, the Commission proposes keeping the current fee at €30. The draft emphasizes that the revision would not impact visa fees for countries with existing facilitation agreements.
