Estonia is thinking about closing its border with Russia due to concerns about irregular migration, similar to Finland. Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna urged citizens to avoid crossing into Russia, citing worries about migrants. This comes after about 30 migrants, mainly from Somalia and Syria, were stopped from entering Estonia from Russia.

Tsahkna accuses Russia of orchestrating a migrant influx to destabilize Estonia, expressing a firm commitment to protect against any hybrid attack, even by closing the border.

The rise in irregular migrants is seen as a deliberate attack on regional security by Tsahkna. Following suit, Finland closed its Raja-Jooseppi border crossing with Russia, aiming to stop the exploitation of people for political purposes. Multiple Finnish border crossing points were closed from November 24 to December 23, reflecting a joint effort to address migration concerns.
