Indian investigators have found that several Chinese nationals in India have violated their visa terms by traveling to sensitive regions in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating Chinese smartphone maker Vivo for money laundering. As part of the investigation, the ED has found that several Chinese nationals who were employed by Vivo had traveled to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, which are restricted areas for foreign nationals.
The ED has arrested a Chinese national and the managing director of Indian electronics company Lava International Ltd in connection with the case. The accused are accused of entering India through deceptive means and setting up a network of Chinese-controlled companies in India that could harm India’s economic sovereignty.
The ED has requested the court to remand the accused in custody for three days so that it can continue its investigation.
