China's Visa-Free Travel Boosts Southeast Asian Tourism

Chinese tourists have significantly contributed to the recovery of Southeast Asia’s tourism industry in recent months. Their increased presence, coupled with visa-free access granted by Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, has helped boost tourism revenues.

John Paolo Rivera, from the Asian Institute of Management, noted that Chinese tourists are the biggest spenders in Southeast Asia, contributing to the region’s GDP and aiding its recovery from the pandemic’s impact.

Singapore, a top destination for Chinese tourists, saw significant tourism growth with Chinese visitors being the largest spenders, according to the Singapore Tourism Board.

The visa-free policies and improved flight connectivity between China and Southeast Asian countries are expected to continue driving tourism growth in the region, benefiting countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand with increased visitor numbers and spending.
