In a big move last January, China and Thailand agreed to let each other’s citizens travel without visas. Since they put this new rule in place on March 1, a lot more Chinese tourists are visiting Thailand.

Bangkok’s Chinatown on Yaowarat Road is all decked out with red lanterns, creating a festive vibe for Chinese New Year. Wang Xuanyu, a 36-year-old traveler from Beijing, happily shared, “Chinatown in Bangkok has lively Chinese New Year activities, making it a warm and welcoming experience.” She found the trip easy and praised the smooth entry process.

To help their economy, Thailand started letting Chinese citizens visit without a visa from September 25, 2023. The recent deal in late January, where both countries agreed to visa exemption, has led to even more Chinese tourists coming to Thailand. It’s an exciting time of collaboration and improved travel opportunities between China and Thailand.
