The police in Chandigarh have registered a case against employees of an immigration firm in Sector 17 for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 8.80 lakh on the pretext of providing her a study visa for Australia.

The woman, who has been identified as Tanya, approached the immigration firm in 2021 after she saw their advertisement on Facebook. She was looking to pursue higher education in Australia after completing her Class XII.

The employees of the immigration firm, including Ravinder Singh, Manpreet Singh Brar, Pushpinder Kaur, and Jyoti Mehra, allegedly took her personal details and passport and assured her that they would get her a visa within six months.

However, the visa never came through and Tanya eventually realized that she had been scammed. She filed a complaint with the police, who have now registered a case against the employees of the immigration firm.

The police are investigating the case and they are trying to track down the suspects. They have also issued a warning to people to be careful when dealing with immigration firms.

This is a reminder to be careful when dealing with any company that promises to get you a visa. There are many unscrupulous companies out there who are only interested in taking your money. Do your research before you sign any contracts or pay any money. And if you think you have been scammed, contact the police immediately.

Here are some tips for avoiding visa fraud:

  • Do your research. Before you contact an immigration company, do some research online and read reviews from other customers.
  • Get everything in writing. Make sure you get a written contract from the immigration company that clearly outlines the services they will provide and the fees they will charge.
  • Don’t pay in full upfront. Only pay a deposit to the immigration company and the rest of the money when they have secured your visa.
  • Be wary of promises that sound too good to be true. If an immigration company promises to get you a visa quickly and easily, be suspicious.

If you think you have been scammed, contact the police immediately.
