Visa Fraud: Chandigarh Firm Booked for Duping Man of Rs 16 Lakh

An immigration firm in Chandigarh has been accused of defrauding an individual of Rs 16 lakh by promising to provide a UK study visa but instead issuing a type C-visit visa.

The victim, Sukhdeep Singh, a resident of Sangrur, Punjab, had applied for the visa through Fly Right visa consultant in Sector 34 with the assistance of agent Mandhir Bajaj. Despite paying the full amount, he was issued a C-visit visa, which is not valid for study purposes.

When Singh arrived at Delhi airport to travel to the UK, he was turned away and instructed to return in July. He has since filed a police complaint against the immigration firm.

The police have registered a case against the firm and its employees under sections 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
