A Canadian citizen, Viren Gandhi, has been accused of visa tampering and unlawfully entering India. Gandhi was apprehended by Airport Authority officials at Mumbai Airport on November 24th as he attempted to depart for Bangkok.
Discrepancies were discovered during passport verification at the immigration counter. Upon inspecting Gandhi’s Canadian passport, the immigration officer noticed that the expiration date of the Indian ‘E’ visa on page 28 had been tampered with, indicating an extension to 20-02-2024. However, the immigration system’s records showed that the visa had expired on April 20, 2019.
Based on these findings, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Gandhi. Further investigations are underway.
