A recent study from the Wharton School tells us that Canada’s plan to get entrepreneurs from the US is working really well. Since they started the Startup Visa Program in 2013, there’s been a big 69% increase in US entrepreneurs starting businesses in Canada.

This program is for skilled entrepreneurs and became super popular, with all 10,000 application spots filled in less than two days. The study looked at info from 2006 to 2021, and it found some interesting things.

People from Asia, in particular, liked the chances in Canada. The study says they were more interested if there were more Asian communities in their US locations. So, if they were already around people from Asia, they were less likely to move to Canada for their business.

This tells us that when immigrants decide where to start a business, it’s not just about getting a good visa. Having friends and a community around also matters a lot.
