Starting February 10, 2024, Canada’s Agri-Food Pilot for permanent residency has two big updates. Firstly, if you’re in Canada when you apply, you can now pick either a job offer or educational qualifications.
Secondly, foreign workers facing challenges can now use work experience from an open work permit to meet the criteria. Canada had extended the Agri-Food pilot, starting as a three-year program in 2020, until May 14, 2025, in May 2023.
In August 2023, two more changes were made: family members of Agri-Food pilot applicants can now get open work permits, and union reference letters are accepted instead of employer reference letters for work experience proof.
