The Canadian government has announced a new immigration program to help Hong Kong residents who are looking to move to Canada. The program is called the “Hong Kong Pathway to Permanent Residence” and it will allow Hong Kong residents who meet certain criteria to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

- Have a valid work permit or study permit in Canada
- Have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada

- Have a clean criminal record
The program will also prioritize applications from:
- Hong Kong residents who have family members in Canada
- Hong Kong residents who have a job offer in Canada with a minimum salary of CAD$50,000
- Hong Kong residents who have a masters degree or higher
To apply for the program, Hong Kong residents must submit an application form, supporting documentation, and a fee of CAD$1,325. The application deadline is January 26, 2024.
The Canadian government has also announced that it will be providing additional support to Hong Kong residents who are already in Canada. This includes extending the validity of their temporary resident status, providing them with access to social services, and helping them to find jobs.
