Bulgaria's Airports Ready for Easier Travel to Schengen Zone

Bulgaria’s airports are gearing up for easier travel as the country prepares to become a partial member of the Schengen Area. Starting March 31, 2024, travellers from Schengen countries arriving in Bulgaria won’t face passport checks at the airports. Instead, they’ll undergo standard security checks and proceed directly to their gates for hassle-free entry.

Likewise, passengers departing Bulgaria for Schengen countries won’t need passport control either. They’ll go through security checks as usual but won’t be delayed by passport inspections. However, all travellers must still carry valid identification documents, regardless of their nationality.

While these changes promise smoother air travel within the Schengen Zone, it’s important to note that border crossings by land and trips outside the Schengen Area will still require passport checks, ensuring security measures remain in place across different modes of transportation.
