Bulgaria to Start Issuing Schengen Visas to Russians

Starting April 1, Bulgarian authorities will begin issuing Schengen visas to Russian citizens. The visa application and issuance process will be similar to other Schengen Zone countries.

The visas will be processed by the Bulgarian embassy in Moscow and the consulate general in St. Petersburg.

This decision comes after the EU imposed sanctions on Russia following the Ukraine invasion, including visa-related measures.

Additionally, Bulgaria and Romania will start issuing Schengen C visas from April 1, allowing entry and stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period in the Schengen area. This change is part of their partial accession by air and sea, removing passport controls for these modes of travel but retaining them for land borders.
