From October 29, 2023, accredited employers in New Zealand can’t use 90-day trial periods for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). This ensures fair treatment for migrant workers and avoids job offer misuse.

Despite talk of extending 90-day trials for everyone on December 11, 2023, accredited employers and AEWV users are exempt. Adding trial periods may lead to losing accreditation.

Regardless of when you applied, AEWV Job Check apps with trial periods will be rejected from October 29. Employers might need to provide updated info to Immigration New Zealand (INZ). The 90-day trial rule doesn’t affect apps based on approved Job Checks or migrants with AEWV before October 29, 2023.

Changes aim to treat migrant workers right and fill jobs based on real demand. Job agreements sent with check apps shouldn’t have trial periods. Stay updated!
