Responding to the significant demand for Bangladesh visas from Assam’s Barak Valley, a visa centre will soon be established in Silchar. Ruhul Amin, the Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner in Guwahati, announced the decision, acknowledging the demand from the districts of Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi. While the opening date is yet to be finalized, Amin assured that the facility would be operational soon, allowing residents to apply for and obtain visas for trips to Bangladesh.

Additionally, a proposal for a border market in Harinagar part II of Katigorah is under consideration, reflecting efforts to enhance goodwill and coordination between the two countries, particularly in border areas. The Bangladesh government is contemplating the establishment of two such markets along the Surma river to strengthen relations with India. Amin reiterated the importance of maintaining a positive relationship between the two nations.
