Australia has given temporary visas to Palestinians due to the recent Gaza conflict. From October 7 to November 20, 860 visas were approved for Palestinians connected to Australia. This happened during Israel’s actions against Hamas after an October 7 attack. The number of people in Gaza, Israel, or the West Bank with these visas is unknown.
Though many got temporary visas, only a few with Australian visas could leave the conflict area. Recently, 65 people, supported by Australia, crossed into Egypt through the Rafah border. In total, 127 people, including Australians, permanent residents, and visa holders, left the affected region. This shows the ongoing challenges for those seeking safety amid the conflict.
