The Australian government is making it easier for skilled workers to get permanent residency (PR).

Starting November 25, 2023, skilled workers who have been working in Australia on a 457 or 482 visa for two years will be eligible to apply for PR.

This is a change from the previous rule, which required skilled workers to work in Australia for three years before they could apply for PR.

The list of occupations that are eligible for this PR pathway is also being expanded.

This means that more skilled workers will be able to apply for PR, including workers in fields such as hospitality management, butchery, journalism, information technology, massage therapy, hairstyling, library science, and education.

Applicants for PR will still need to meet certain requirements, such as health, character, and English language requirements.
